UKAS 2010

Below is the Executive Summary from our recent UKAS Surveillance visit

Executive Summary

The laboratory has once again demonstrated the strength of its management system. The system is fully documented, with a sound document control and archive process. Record keeping is exceptionally good, including equipment calibrations, technical records, and all other quality records. At the visit staff demonstrated sound technical competence and their training records are accurate and detailed.

Laboratory equipment is fit for purpose, and the system to ensure calibrations are done on time seems to be working very well. Internal quality control is appropriate for the work being done and external proficiency testing performance is excellent, although the laboratory should be alert for new schemes in the fields in which they operate.

The findings raised by the assessment team, whether mandatory or recommended, are all to contribute to the improvements the laboratory aims for themselves.

Overall, the requirements of ISO 17025 appear to have been met consistently throughout the last 12 months.
