We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Facilities and Environmental Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. In this role, you will assist with the day-to-day operations of facilities management, help monitor environmental compliance, coordinate maintenance tasks, and act as a key support in ensuring our facilities run efficiently and safely. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in facilities and environmental management within a dynamic organisation.
The role is very hands-on, and you will be required to use your technical and administrative skills to support the Company in providing its high-quality, service-oriented services to the Pharmaceutical industry.
Please note: This role is based at our site in Teddington; candidates must be able to commute to Teddington on a daily basis and for emergency out-of-hours callouts as and when necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
In this multifaceted role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Building Maintenance: Liaising with Building Maintenance, Construction Engineers, and Tradespersons and assisting with building maintenance tasks, including routine inspections, minor repairs, and coordination of external contractors for larger repairs and upgrades.
- Vendor & Contract Coordination: Coordinating maintenance schedules, contractor services, and vendor communications. Liaising closely with Contractors, Laboratory Managers & Analysts, and the QA Department.
- Equipment Maintenance: Overseeing and performing maintenance on laboratory equipment, such as fume hoods, safety cabinets, and hotplates.
- Facilities Maintenance: Coordinate internal maintenance requests and ensure prompt responses to urgent facilities issues.
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor and log activities, such as fixed-temperature devices (fridges, freezers, ovens and incubators), fume extraction systems, waste disposal and emissions tracking.
- Emergency Response & Security: Acting as an emergency responder, coordinating out-of-hours (OOH) staff, and ensuring site security during contractor activities.
- Inventory & Purchasing Support: Maintaining an equipment master manual and assisting in purchasing lab equipment and handling facility deliveries.
- SOP Management & Documentation: Creating and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Facilities & Environmental tasks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards
- Environmental Support: Assisting the Facilities and Environmental Manager in the company’s approach to Sustainability Goals.
- Administrative Support: To the Facilities & Environmental Manager in all areas of facilities and environmental operations.
Required experience/qualifications:
- Proven experience working in a similar capacity.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in liaising with multiple departments and external contractors
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Full UK driving license and use of own car for work purposes (out-of-hours call-out related mileage will be paid).
Additional knowledge/experience that would be advantageous:
- Working in a Laboratory environment
- Knowledge of lab equipment and environmental monitoring procedures
- Working to a Quality standard
