Although the Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Regulations came into effect in 2000, there is still a demand for the recycling of Halons, CFCs and HFCs. We have developed a speciality in this field over many years and are UKAS ISO17025 Accredited for the analysis of the recycled materials.
We can help you in analysis for specific uses such as:
- HFCs used in chemical processes to produce other substances, rather than placed directly in equipment
- Military vehicles and vessels
- Aircraft
- Oil, gas and petrochemicals facilities
- Land-based command and communications facilities essential to national security in nuclear power and nuclear research facilities
- The Channel Tunnel
- In metered dose inhalers for medicines
- Etching semiconductor material
- Cleaning chemicals vapour deposition chambers in semiconductor manufacturing
The major source of recycled materials are from retired fire extinguisher systems, but others include the air conditioning and refrigeration Industry. Expanded polyurethane foams being recycled from fridges and freezers, as well as building materials, must also be checked to see if ODS materials were used as blowing agents in their manufacture.
