ICP-MS allows for the analysis of over 70 elements (metallic and non-metallic) from low ppt to high ppm in solution in a single run.
The solution is sprayed into an argon plasma which breaks it down to small atomic charged particles. The instrument uses a unique collision cell that removes polyatomic inferences allowing the analysis of complex matrices.
Our high matrix introduction (HMI) kit allows the direct analysis of samples which contain high levels of dissolved solids. A quadrupole mass spectrometer separates and identifies the atomic ions by their characteristic mass.
Whilst both ICPMS and ICPOES are capable of trace metals analysis, only ICPMS can meet the permitted concentration limits for all elements to ICH/USP/PhEur guidelines.
