The technique allows for the analysis of over 70 elements (metallic and non-metallic) from low ppb to high ppm in solution in a single run.
The solution is introduced as a spray into an argon plasma. The elements are detected from the light emitted at characteristic wavelengths which have been separated using a diffraction grating. Depending on the expected concentrations in solution, the analytical range can be extended by using radial and axial views.
