Butterworth currently has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Chemist to join our team on a full-time permanent basis . The role will involve testing raw materials and finished products to in-house or published methods. As an Analytical Chemist, you will also be required to use classical and instrumental techniques to pharmacopoeial or other published method sources in an inorganic analytical testing laboratory. Examples of the types of testing performed are:
- Titrimetry
- UV/Visible and infra-red spectrometry
- Atomic absorption spectrometry
- Gravimetry
- Polarimetry
- Refractometry
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Working in a fast-paced environment with numerous competing deadlines, with the ability to complete all analytical work within required timeframes and meet fast turnaround requirements.
- Compliance with Company regulations including in-house health and safety, GMP, GLP and UKAS Quality requirements.
- Ensuring that high-quality work is carried out in the most efficient manner and minimising errors.
- Execution of own work as well as assisting others.
- Training and development of analytical staff as and when required.
Required experience/qualifications:
- Educated to degree standard in chemistry or a related subject.
- Proven experience performing classical wet chemistry techniques, in particular titrimetric and gravimetric techniques, either in the workplace or on a University placement.
Additional knowledge/experience that would be advantageous
- Proven work experience in a pharmaceutical QC laboratory and experience in instrumental techniques such as AAS, ICP, UV/Vis spectrometry, Karl Fischer and polarimetry.

- Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Flexible approach, with a can-do attitude and willing to work outside normal hours if necessary
